Ayodhya Airport
Temple-inspired GFRC columns, jalis, cornices and domes for the Ayodhya airport terminal.

Overview
The Ayodhya terminal draws on temple architecture: carved columns, layered cornices, jali screens and a roofline of domes, all in a warm sandstone-toned finish.
MIRU modelled, molded, cast and installed the GFRC package. The ornament was cast as repeatable pieces and fixed back to the terminal steel, giving the building its carved character without the weight of stone.

Project stages
1. Analysis
The architectural set was broken down into element families: columns, cornice runs, jali panels and domes, with their joints and fixings agreed against the terminal structure.
2. Design
Each family was rebuilt as an exact 3D model, then split into castable, transportable pieces, with the carved detail captured in the model rather than added by hand.
3. Development
Molds were made from the models, pieces were cast and finished at the plant, and installation followed the column and canopy sequence on site.
